Suite Charlie Chaplin

  • Area : 72 m² / 776 sq. ft.

The star of this suite is its cinematic view of Place Vendôme. It's a fabulous wide-screen perspective on the architectural gem that is the royal square. This allows you to take it all in as a single shot, whether lit by daylight or artifice. Now... Action!

The more personal interior pays homage to the great artist, with his unforgettable humanity and comic genius. Memories combine to pay tribute to the legacy of the man whose most endearing silent character, The Tramp, moved entire generations.

An intimate salon

Under an inspiringly high ceiling, warm wood floors and damask fabrics harmonise with the ochre hues of the velvet, the fireplace’s pink marble and the delicate woodwork. Portraits and photographs bring the emotive story of Chaplin to life – showing a true genius of the "seventh art" and a keen observer of human nature, beloved by the world.

A room with an extaordinary view

Cut to a tranquil room, bathed in abundant light: grand canopy bed, high windows, silken drapes. In this cinematic scene the Vendôme Column stars, ready for its close-up. Set the focus wider and the square's symmetry stretches out before you. Evening brings a different, sparkling scene, captivatingly lit as if by candles. The City of Light is the stage, and you’re the audience.

And there was light

Designed three centures ago by Louis XIV’s famous architect Mansart, Place Vendôme is a jewel of French classical architecture. The octagon created by its facades recalls the cut of a diamond, with similar beauty and precision. The 28 private mansions play off each other in perfect harmony, forming their own, timeless kind of theatre.

It was in the area around the Ritz that Paris first became known as the "City of Light." The first public gas lighting appeared in the 1820s on Rue de Rivoli, Rue de la Paix, and our own Place Vendôme. A few years later, the famously tall gas-fired street lamps, or "candelabras," were installed. Let there be light!
